"Finally the theatre was transformed into it's most familiar
identity and new name - The Hollywood Palace. In 1964 ABC-TV
launched its television hit "Hollywood Palace" series
with a kaleidoscope of entertainment icons and showbusiness greats
- from Judy Garland and Louis Armstrong to performing poodles and
lion tamers. Through seven successful years three things remained
constant: season premiers hosted by Bing Crosby, a weekly all-star
line-up unrivaled by any television presentation before or since,
and ratings that made Nielsen history. After the series was canceled
in 1970 the name and the theatre lived on as an ABC television studio..."
