Movies Are Your Best Escape - Episode #8
First Season (1965-66) - Aired Friday, on CBS from 8:30-9:00 P.M.
Original Airdate : November 5th, 1965 Production Number : 5784-12 Writer : Laurence Marks Director : Howard Morris Regular Cast : Hogan, LeBeau, Newkirk, Kinchloe, Carter, Klink and Schultz Guest Cast : Henry Corden (General von Kaplow), John Crawford (Lieutenant Ritchie), Jon Cedar (Corporal Langenscheidt), William Christopher (Lieutenant Donner), Overview : A visiting general has secret documents in a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist. At a dinner party, the heroes keep the general distracted (by the lovely Helga) and detained (by Klink's awful violin solo) long enough for Newkirk to pick the lock and retrieve the documents. Hogan's plan to get the documents out of camp involves convincing Klink that Germany is losing the war so he'll allow two German officers to film the friendly atmosphere of Stalag 13. The filmmakers, really escaping RAF (Royal Air Force) officers in disguise, leave camp with the document hidden inside their phony movie camera.
