The general hopes that with Klink and Gertrude working together, a romance will develop. Gertrude plants herself in the office and won't leave until it is completely organized- an all night task at best. This interferes with Hogan's plan to break into Klink's safe, so he cooks up a plot to get Gertrude and Klink out of camp.
